How to get to Bariloche?

Bariloche is located in southern Argentina, in Patagonia, just next to the Chilean border. Apart from being a tourist center, Bariloche is an important transport hub for the region and you will have no problems in getting there. Depending on where you come from, we recommend coming by plane or bus. Bariloche has international airport and a bus terminal where thousands of passengers arrive every day. The airport in Bariloche is about 25 minutes away by car/bus from the city center, the bus terminal is within city limits, about a 10 minute bus ride from the center.

Travelling by bus in Argentina

There is a large choice of bus carriers in Argentina and many of them have services to/from Bariloche. Prices vary a lot and usually you get what you pay for. You will have regular services, executive services, super- executive services, first class services, you name it. Almost all of them offer good services and comfortable seats, on-board movies, drinks, breakfast, dinner during the trip. Don t be afraid of the distances! This is a nice way to discover the country, if you have a spare day or two.

Coming from / going to Buenos Aires

From Buenos Aires there have several flights per day with Lan Argentina Airlines and Aerolineas Argentinas. It is a two-hour flight. Some flights leave / arrive from Pistarini International airport (also referred to as Ezeiza) in Buenos Aires, others from Jorge Newbery airport, located downtown. If you have connecting flights, make sure you know which airport you choose. There are bus services between the airports, but it is about an hour s ride by bus.

If you choose to come by bus, you are in for a 18-19 hour bus ride. You have the choice between the following companies, just to name a few: Via Bariloche, Crucero del Norte, Chevallier, Andesmar, Flechabus, ….

Other options depending on where you come from

From both Ushuaia and El Calafate you have the choice between a direct flight with Aerolineas Argentinas, a LAN flight with one stop and the bus (for example • www.taqsa.com.ar

From Chile there are no direct flights to Bariloche. You will have to fly through Buenos Aires. By bus, there are several companies that make for a more efficient trip: Andesmar, Tas Choapa, Cruz del Sur, Via Bariloche and Bus Norte. The closest major city on the Chilean side is Puerto Montt from where Tas Choapa has a direct service.

From Brasil most flights stop over in Buenos Aires. There are occasional direct charter flights in the main tourist season, so check your local travel agency.
